Origin Oudh essential oil
Oudh is extracted from Agarwood.
Species are found in the forests of Southeast Asia in Iran, India, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The best-known species is the Aquilaria Malaccensis.
They are evergreen trees with a height of up to 40 meters and a trunk diameter of up to about 80 cm.
Aquilarias are the heartwood known as Agarwood, Aloewood or Agaro.
When the trees are attacked by fungi in the wild, they start to produce the resinous agarwood in their core as an immune response against the fungus. This biological process takes several decades. Only 10% of these trees, if they are at least 20 years old and have a trunk diameter of at least 40 cm, can produce Agarwood.
The fungus is introduced into the tree with a drill and this fungus must remain there for at least 5 years. The older the infected tree, the more expensive the wood and oil.
Since Oudh essential oil is so expensive, we have this replacement perfume oil in our range.
The scented wood comes on the market in all kinds of colors: black, white, red or green.
All have their own scent nuance.
The shredded wood is normally used to extract the essential oil.
In Turkey, Oudh is used by Sufis for their spiritual development.
In Japan, Oudh is used at funerals.
Oudh is also widely used in India in perfumes and in spiritual events.
