Essential oil

Essential oils are often used for aromatherapy. In addition to essential oil or essential oil, menthol crystals also have a purifying effect. Scents act on the subconscious and bring a disturbed nervous system into balance.

Aromatherapy means treating with scent. Essential oils are also called essential oils. These are two different names for essential oil.

Essential oil

Scents work on the subconscious and thus bring a disturbed nervous system into balance. Treatment takes into account both the body and the psyche. Physical complaints are often related to underlying psychological complaints.

What are essential oils?

Essential oils or while essential oils are the essence or life force of a plant. They have powerful properties from the herbs from which they are extracted.

The scent of a flower, a tree, a plant, a herb or spice is caused by the essential oil. Essential oils are extracted from various plants, herbs, trees, seeds and flowers. A recognizable example of the easy release of an essential oil is the peeling of a lemon. When you squeeze the peel, moisture jumps out of the peel which stings the eyes and smells strongly of lemon. That is the essential oil of the lemon. The same goes for Oranges and Mandarins.

Beauty & Care essential oils are 100% pure, natural, undiluted or adulterated, comply with the European Pharmacopoeia and are suitable for aromatherapy. The essential oil is often available in the webshop in 5 ml, 20 ml, 100 ml, 500 ml and liter bottles because we are an essential oil wholesaler.

Herbs from which essential oil is made

Essential oils are divided into 6 groups:

  1. Wood such as Eucalyptus and Cedarwood
  2. Citrus such as Bergamot and Blood Orange
  3. Herbs such as Rosemary and Oregano
  4. Flowers such as Ylang Ylang and Chamomile
  5. Resin such as Frankincense and Benzoin
  6. Spices such as Anise and Black Pepper

Essential oil is extracted using 3 different methods:

  1. Steam distillation of wood, herbs, flowers and spices
  2. Cold pressing of citrus fruit peels
  3. Extraction from blossoms and some resins

It often takes 50 to 100 kg of a plant to obtain 1 liter of essential oil, depending on the type of therapeutic oil. Sometimes only 25 kg of a plant is needed and sometimes much more plant material is needed to obtain 1 liter of essential oil. That is why there is a price difference in the wide variety of essential oils.

Because only 1 liter of essential oil is extracted from so many aromatic plants, this oil has a very strong scent. Because so many aromatic plants are used, an essential oil can also have a therapeutic effect.
Essential oil is frequently used for this wonderful scent and therapeutic effect.

How are essential oils produced?

With steam distillation, the essential oil is tapped off in the decanting vessel at the top and the bottom layer is used as floral water. For real essential oil you can visit our webshop.

Essential oil has a strong effect on the feeling. It is known that 2 nerve pathways run directly from the sense of smell to the limbic system in the brain (this part of the brain is involved in memory and emotions). An example from everyday life is that you perceive an odor when you walk in a forest and smell a pine scent. When using essential pine oil, you think of walks in the woods with the family.

Essential oil mixes such as Hamam and Sauna Gold mix can also be used. Because these mixes are composed entirely of essential oils, they can enhance a certain experience or effect.

Different forms of Essential Oils

Essential oils are usually liquid, but can also be solid or semi-solid. Since scarcity, purchasing and extraction of essential oils can vary, the prices of essential oils are not always fixed. The price depends on the different ingredients. For example, Bergamot oil is much more expensive than Eucalyptus oil. This depends on the temperature and the species. They can be dissolved in pure alcohol, fats and oils, but not in water.
The Different types of essential oil come from different areas. For example, lemon oil comes from Italy. Lavender oil from France and Peppermint oil from the United States.

Essential oil origin and definition

The word essential comes from the English Essential oil, which sometimes causes confusion with the Dutch Essential oils. We always use the word essential oils products because they are volatile oils. Ethereal means volatile, which means that the scent evaporates when used and leaves no residue.

All our essential oils are suitable for use in aromatherapy. They are not organic essential oil scents, but natural essential oils without additives. That is why you can safely buy Beauty & Care essential oil. The different oils are extracted from different parts of a plant. For example, you have cinnamon bark and cinnamon leaf oil. These are two completely different oils even though they are extracted from the same plants. Do not use essential oil pure on the skin, but always dilute it with a base oil such as Sweet Almond oil or Grape seed oil .

Rose oil, Lemon oil, Lavender oil, what are the costs?

For example, rose petals are used to extract essential rose oil. The cost of rose oil (essential) is very higher because a rose petal contains relatively little essential oil. For 300 ml of Rose oil (Rosa Damascena oil) 1000 kg of rose petals are used. For example, to distill lavender oil (1 liter) (Lavandula Angustifolia), approximately 150 kilos of lavender blossoms are required. Lemon oil is obtained by pressing lemon peels. Lemon peels contain relatively more essential oil than lavender blossoms or rose petals, which makes lemon oil also cheaper than lavender oil and rose oil.

Can essential oils help improve sleep?

Some essential oils can help improve sleep as they are relaxing, calm the mind and reduce stress and anxiety. These include essential oils such as Lavender, Orange, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang and Mandarin. Use these essential oils singly or mix 1 or 2 together in an aroma diffuser and enjoy the wonderful scent and relaxing atmosphere in the room. Lavender can be mixed well with Mandarin, Orange, Bergamot and Ylang Ylang. These scents all go well together, so you really can't go wrong.

How can I safely dilute essential oils for topical use?

Essential oils should be highly diluted for topical use. Use 5 to 10 ml per 1 liter of body lotion, shampoo, shower gel or massage oil. It is simply possible to add it to the top of the bottle. (5 ml = 100 drops and 10 ml = 200 drops of essential oil) Then all you have to do is shake the liter bottle (with the cap on) and it is ready to use.

How can I safely use essential oils around children and pets?

Always store essential oils in a cupboard where children and pets cannot reach. Essential oils are highly concentrated, so use them sparingly and dilute them with water in a diffuser or with oil if you want to use them on the skin. For pets, ensure that there is always sufficient ventilation and a door is open so that the pet can leave if it needs to. Be careful with Tea Tree oil in cats and dogs. Cats smell 25 to 50 times stronger than humans and dogs 50 to 100 times stronger. So make sure it is not too strong for them.

Never use essential oils neat on pets or children. If pets have weakness, muscle contractions and uncoordinated behavior, wait three days before diffusing essential oil. After this, the pets have completely recovered. Never allow essential oils to be ingested by pets and children, not even adults, but consult with an aromatherapist first.
