Blue chamomile is a classic in aromatherapy.
Blue Chamomile essential oil has a heavy, spicy, strongly medicinal, sweet-warm scent that is somewhat reminiscent of raw cocoa.

Effect of Blue Chamomile oil

Blue Chamomile oil owes its blue color to the chamazulenic acid that this essential oil contains.
Chamazulenic acid is anti-inflammatory and promotes skin healing.
That is why this oil can be used diluted in a base oil to disinfect wounds.
Blue chamomile essential oil has a detoxifying, calming, relaxing and skin-healing effect.

What is the essential oil used for?

The perfume industry uses blue chamomile oil in oriental and floral perfumes.
They characterize the scent as undertones.

Use Blue Chamomile oil

• In a massage oil: add a maximum of 25 drops of Blue Chamomile oil to 250 ml of Sweet Almond oil. It is better to mix 5 drops of Blue Chamomile oil with 20 drops of Lavender oil in 250 ml of Sweet almond oil, as the Blue Chamomile oil has a very strong, dominant scent.
• In the bath: for Blue Chamomile in the bath, use our Zen bath oil and add a few drops of Blue Chamomile oil because otherwise Blue Chamomile oil will float on the water

Warnings

• Do not take the essential oil neat or use it neat on the skin.
• Blue chamomile can discolor white clothing to blue due to its strong color.

Blue Chamomile oil mixes well with

It is recommended to mix this essential oil with other essential oils.
The essential oil mixes well with bergamot, lemon, lavender, lavandin, rose and ylang ylang oil.

Blue Chamomile and the extraction of its essential oil

This natural essential Blue Chamomile oil is extracted by steam distillation of the fresh or slightly dried flowering plant or just the flowers.
The annual real chamomile grows up to 50 cm high and has flowers with a yellow heart and white ray flowers around it.
The blue color of the blue chamomile is caused by the sesquiterpene chamazulene.
In the steam distillation process, chamazulene is formed from matricin, a colorless compound in the flower buds of the chamomile.
About 500 kilos of chamomile flowers are needed for 1 kilo of essential oil.
That is why this essential oil is so expensive.
